Rose Tea Cottage

Where tea is served at half past four

Longing for spring

Awake, thou wintry earth
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!

~Thomas Blackburn

I am feeling so low today with no inclination to do anything. I am dreading my annual check-up later this afternoon and truth be told, I am tired of this cold weather. I keep looking for signs of spring, I have seen a small movement in the daffodil borders and have heard low chirping of birds outside of my cottage, other then that nothing...just cold icy weather. I miss the delicious scent of hyacinths and the yellow, blue, green, pink colours of spring. Daffs, snowdrops, tulips, pansies, hyacinths, I miss you all so much. These gorgeous photos cheered me up somewhat. I hope they brighten your day my darlings.

Good Morning Sweet Duchess...
Such a beautiful box for flower planting. It says "SPRING" for sure. I love it.

I am missing my tea and biscuits this morning. You must really be sad for Spring, you never forget the tea and biscuits. I am sending you so many rays of sunshine through my screen, can you feel them? Here is one of my roses from my garden, can you smell the fragrance? A little patch of grass from my yard for you to walk upon, can you feel the softness beneath your feet? How about my hummingbird flittering around you, can you hear the buzz of her wings?
I hope I have cheered you up a little dear friend. I so hate to think of you sad.

Have a beautiful day and know that Spring is coming. Winter will not last forever.

Country hugs sweetie and so much love...Sherry

Your photos are uplifting, so pretty!
I too long for spring, we've had so little sun over the past few months. My garden looks sad and is in need or colour! We all feel so much better when spring is on it's way, it brings hope and fresh new beginnings.

Good luck this afternoon, all will be well.

Take care
Warm wishes

Hey Duchess, thanks for dropping by! I enjoyed your comment and I love this picture of the chest of draws. So sorry to hear you are low - I know the feeling. This weather is awful for the mood. I hope the spring hurries up and arrives soon - I can see small signs so just a little longer xxx

Bonjour Duchess,
Don't worry my dear Spring will soon be sprung and all the icy snow a distant memory. We all have those days - perhaps a little tea to help see things diffrently.

Hope your Dad is still doing well. Good luck this afternoon, that is never fun but that too will be over soon.

I'm heading back to have another look at that pink dresser overflowing with flowers.

Take care

Ah Duchess thanks for the beautiful glimpses of spring. I too am cloistered in with this dreadful snow, about 15 inches. Terrible. But spring will happen, maybe later than sooner, but it will. we just have to be patient, darn it!

Duchess,

Sorry your feeling a bit down, today the sun is shining in Ireland so I was out for the morning. I know there are little signs of spring yet but at least we have it to look forward to, with the longer days. Love the pretty images of the flowers. Thanks for sharing. Go have a cup of tea and think of the longer sunny days to come soon :)

All things nice...

Hello there lovely lady, our adored sweet Duchess! I too am longing for spring! I trust that all will go well with your annual checkup; I know how 'nerve jostling' that can be!..,

I simply was delighted and honored to have you visit for afternoon tea darling!~ Those pictures in this post are rosey, sweet and cheerfullly speak of spring to come!~( Our daffodils won't arrive until May, so there's always the consolation in the realization that if yours in the area are peeking up, even perhaps a wee little bit now, you're doubly blessed my dear)!..,

As always, I can literally hardly wait to see what you'll post next!

~ Your 'ears must have been burning', in the best sense of the phrase; if you could have heard my dear friend and I discussing with enthusiastic, 'oohs and aahs' of delight your fabulous blog! ~ (As we were enjoying our weekly long distance 'actual', Tuesday Tea For Two, 2-3 hour tete-a-tete, we delighted in your lovely and exceptional blog my dear friend!!..,

Have a marvelous remainder of the day darling; may this in some small way cheer you!..,

Cheers, hugs and blessings from Wanda Lee @ Silken Purse (and @ The Plumed Pen)

Duchess, I kid you not. If you are craving the scent of spring you must have one of these candles. It smells like all those scents you love combined. I am not a big candle person scent wise. This, this is not your normal scented candle. This is spring!

http://www.amazon.com/Trapp-Candle-No-13-Flower-Shoppe/dp/B000V7SENC

The scent is called Bobs Flower Shop. Honestly reminds me of the Seattle Flower and Garden Show. Heaven on earth in the middle of winter.

I adore the pink chest of herbs and flowers :)
