Rose Tea Cottage

Where tea is served at half past four

If flowers grow in Heaven
Lord please pick a bunch for me
Place them in my Mum’s arms
And tell her they're from me
Tell her I love her and miss her
And when she turns to smile
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile
Because remembering her is easy
I do it every day
But there's an ache within my heart
Because I am missing her today

Today, the 20th of April is a bittersweet day for me.
It is my mum's birthday, it's also the day she went to heaven.

Mum I miss you terribly and wish you were here.
I love you mum, always have and always will.

What a precious posting in honour of your Mom. My dad is there (in heaven) too.... I sometimes ask Jesus to say hi to him for me.

This is how I see it.... those who have gone on to heaven before us are no longer in our past -- they are there in our future, waiting for us to join them.

Wishing you hugs on this day!

Oh my! How sad you must be. My father died when I was nine. I do think of him on his birthday. But as it has been 30+ years it is not as bad as it used to be. I do think I will have a bad time with my mom when she goes. I will be thinking of you. ♥
Your blog is just so beautiful! I also want to thank you for your sweet thoughts about my Casey. I am very blessed to have such friends!

Dearest Duchess - A lovely, tearful post in tribute of this day in honor of your beloved mother.

YOU are loved xxx

That laughing eye, whose sunny beam
My memory would not cherish less; -
And oh, that smile! whose joyous gleam
Nor mortal language can express.

Adieu, but let me cherish, still,
The hope with which I cannot part.
Contempt may wound, and coldness chill,
But still it lingers in my heart.

And who can tell but Heaven, at last,
May answer all my thousand prayers,
And bid the future pay the past
With joy for anguish, smiles for tears?

(Anne Bronte - snipit from the poem Farewell)

I understand your feelings completely. My mother passed away just three years ago on April 19. It was such a terrible loss, still is. Your poem touched my heart so deeply and my tears are flowing freely. All week long I've felt so blah and not at all ambitious, despite the perfect weather we've been experiencing. I think I'll cut myself a little break about not getting much housework done and go outside, maybe do a little crafting that I've been wanting to do. It's what my mom would have done with such a beautiful day. I just wish the hole in my heart didn't still feel so raw...and as hard as it is for me, I think it's harder for my two girls, ages 11 and 8, who lost their only grandmother.
