Rose Tea Cottage

Where tea is served at half past four

With its richly colored yet small, delicate flowers, the sweet pea’s history can be traced back to 17th century Italy, when a Sicilian monk, Franciscus Cupani, sent its seeds to England. Although that original sweet pea bore little resemblance to the flower we know today, when Harry Eckford, a Scottish nurseryman, crossbred the original flower, he created the colorful, ornamental and sweetly scented sweet pea we know today.

Happy Monday to you darling!!

From one cottager to another, hello and happy Monday. We have tea at four, but I do like roses round the door and picket fences! And I have some rather lovely everlasting sweet peas spreading themselves round my garden - I think we have a few things in common, although unfortunately I don't have a title!

HI!!!!
Mu Mom loves flowers, I'm so happy for a few years she was able to work at her dream job and that was owning her very own flower shop, but everyone who has owned a business knows how difficult it is, although she loved it working 6 days a week and no time off and Holidays, you get NO Holidays, Valentines Days, her and I were there 36 hours straight no sleep!!! I wanted to Cry, I did Cry several times during those 36 long hours, but anywho, she always planted sweet peas, and I love them!! I just might change from a lily to a sweet pea!!!!I just may plant some this fall!!!
love,
jamie

Dear Duchess, thank you for your lovely comment! In fact, just woken up from a long siesta - hosting such a large party really exhausted me especially having to make all those introductions to George, Clive and Jack that my fellow blogpals insisted on...

Sweet peas - what a lovely way to start a new week. Many thanks for sharing them with us!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend too and see you again soon,

Love those sweet peas Duchess and Happy Tuesday to you. My excuse for not gardening is i live on a lake and get too much westerly wind and salt spray, means i can spend more time indoors with my cats, collections and looking at pretty blogs. Sylvia
